Why We Do It
I know it sounds cliché and a bit cheesy, but I believe that those of us who have been fortunate enough to amass significant wealth (whatever significant means to you) have a tremendous opportunity to use that wealth to help others to live their best lives.
Unfortunately, giving away your money can be harder than it sounds if you’ve never tried to do it in a consistent, carefully considered manner. If you have north of $10 million in assets, you’ll find plenty of philanthropic consultants who will be happy to, for what may be a hefty fee, assist you in developing and executing a giving plan. But, if that doesn’t describe you, you may be on your own.
That’s where we come in. In our experience, few financial planners are fluent in the language of philanthropy, and, as such, their advice usually begins and ends at minimizing your tax bill for your charitable donations. Don’t get me wrong, that’s important, but it’s also the easy part. The hard part is knowing whether your donations are actually having the desired impact on the people and causes you care about. Our mission is to help give our clients the confidence that comes from knowing that their efforts to leave the world better than they found it will not be in vain.
